Watersheds

There is a lot to understand about how water connects different ecosystems through rivers, lakes, streams, and oceans. Join Danforth DaMoose has he learns about each part of the water cycle and how water connects us all. You’ll learn key vocabulary, practice your observation skills, and get to check out the watersheds right outside your door!

Watersheds Learning Experiences

Each of the activities below are an opportunity for you to discover how water connects everything around us!

Outdoor Safety

As you head outside to explore, be sure to have safety in mind! Are you dressed appropriately for the weather? How about sunscreen, a hat, raincoat, or bug spray? Be sure you are with an adult, or they know where you are. Keep to areas you or someone you are with are familiar with. Be aware of your surroundings. There is so much to see and explore right outside your door - have fun, be curious, and be safe!

Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

EcologyOnline’s Watershed Module incorporates the Next Generation Science Standards “Science and Engineering Practices” as students explore, engage and attempt to make sense of outdoor phenomena. These practices reflect what scientists use to investigate the world, and are skills and knowledge sets that help students internalize science learning. As students engage in learning about water and watersheds, they will be engaging in a full range of cognitive, social, and physical practices that scientific inquiry requires.
